Concert
In the early 1900s, ukulele players were starting to play for larger audiences and in duos, trios and larger groups. Thatʻs when ukulele builders started making concert-sized (23”) ukes, which were slightly louder but also warmer and richer sounding than “standard” (soprano) ukes. They also were making the Liliʻu, Queen Liliʻuokalaniʻs favorite, 23” long with 8 strings (4 tuned-alike pairs). The concert is great for young adults and players with smaller hands, and Mele concert-sized ukes deliver rich, warm and brilliant tones at great prices. The Mele Limited-edition Special Deluxe concerts cost a bit more, but the fit, finish and quality rival ukes costing several times as much. ***Please note*** Due to the handmade nature of our instruments, ukuleles may vary due to differences in tone woods, characteristics in the wood grains etc. Every ukulele is absolutely unique and a representation of the exact model you are buying. Your ukulele may not be identical to the one pictured. It will, however, be the same model.
